With the help of a RAILS My Library Is... grant, Woodland CUSD #5 Library and Streator Public Library teamed up to bring cultural presentations to their mutual communities.  Mexico, Ireland, Slovakia/Czechoslovakia, and The Philippines were each represented during four separate programs.  Woodland students learned a little bit about themselves and their own cultures and also embraced learning about other cultures.  They learned some history of cultures, the importance of unity, the roles that literature/media, food, music and dance take in various cultures, and they learned that their library is more than books to read.  It is a cultural mecca.  It is a serene haven.  It's a vast expanse of knowledge and imagination.  And it is beautifully unique, inviting, and inclusive.
